Mixed Messages
While driving from Florida to Tennessee, my On-Star went crazy. I requested that directions to Atlanta, Georgia be put on my screen. It loaded the directions, but didn’t cancel the instructions I had requested to get me to Florida a week earlier.
On the map in my vehicle, it gave me an arrow pointing north and an arrow pointing south. The voice gave me directions to head north. But, she immediately instructed me to make a U-turn at the next intersection. I couldn’t cancel the guidance command without cancelling the directions I needed to get me to my destination.
We listened to mixed messages for miles until a red light gave me an opportunity to cancel and restart our traveling directions. It would have been comical if it had not been so confusing.
It reminded me of the tug-o-war we experience when the voice of the enemy constantly badgers us to squelch our zeal for the things of God.
He tries to convince us that the Ten Commandments are the ten suggestions. It’s a constant battle for our souls. But, we are equipped to win this battle. We have promises to stand upon in every trial, every struggle. When he tells you you’re going to fail, remind him that…
“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” ~Phil. 4:13 NIV
When the enemy tells you that you are too weak to stand, tell him…
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” ~I John 4:4 NIV
When he reminds you of your past…remind him of his future!
“And the devil who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”~ Revelations 20:10 NIV
Friends, when bombarded with mixed messages, listen to the voice of the Lord, follow His directions and He will see you through. After all, He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. . . So, lean on Him.
