Dashing Through The Snow

Christmas is upon us! As Christmas music entertains us, we’re trimming trees, setting up our manger scenes, shopping for gifts and wrapping packages. When the Christmas cards are mailed and boxes have been shipped we go dashing through the snow to family gatherings and Christmas parties.

When the 25th arrives, we celebrate Jesus’s birthday by exchanging gifts with our loved ones and friends. These gifts represent the gifts He has blessed us. It is easy to get so focused on us and ours and neglect the hurting and homeless when we are so blessed. Amid the hustle and bustle of this week, try to pause and reflect on the true meaning of the season and bless someone less fortunate around you.

Over two years ago, my husband passed away. He was a mighty man of God. He lived an amazing life. We gave him a hero’s send off…a great tribute. Thousand traveled great distances to pay their respects. I had a monument placed on his grave. It has his name on it, his birth date, a dash, then the date of his death. It is a beautiful memorial to a life well lived.

The most important thing etched into the head stone is the dash between the date of his birth and his death because it represents the days he lived. In those days, he chose to serve the Lord with a passion. He made a difference, he touched the hurting of this world. You see…it’s what you do for Jesus that matters.

Scripture tells us to….

“Bear one another’s burden and so fulfill the law of Christ.” ~ Galatians 6:2

Christmas presents opportunities to share Jesus with the lost, to show His love to the less fortunate…those truly in need of a Savior. Adding another name to the Lambs Book of Life make all the dashing through the snow worth it. So get your boots on and Merry Christmas.

How do you share your faith at Christmas?
